Data Challenge 2026 - Terms and Conditions
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS BEFORE ACCEPTING THEM IN THE APPLICATION FORM
1. SELECTION PROCESS
1.1. The selection of participants is conducted at the sole discretion of the Organizing Committee. The evaluation criteria and scoring rubrics used in the selection process will not be disclosed or published.
1.2. The decisions of the Organizing Committee are final and binding. No appeals, objections, complaints, or requests for reconsideration will be entertained regarding the outcome of the selection process.
1.3. Applicants who are not selected will be placed on a waiting list and may be contacted should a place become available. Placement on the waiting list does not guarantee admission to the programme.
2. CONFIRMATION OF PARTICIPATION
2.1. Selected participants must confirm their attendance within the deadline specified in the acceptance notification. Failure to confirm participation within the stipulated timeframe will result in automatic forfeiture of the allocated place, which will then be offered to candidates on the waiting list.
2.2. Confirmation of participation constitutes a binding commitment to attend the programme in its entirety.
3. ACCOMMODATION
3.1. The Organisation reserves the right to modify, change, or substitute the assigned accommodation at any time, without prior notice, and at its sole discretion. While every effort will be made to maintain comparable standards, the Organisation does not guarantee accommodation at any specific hotel or facility.
3.2. Room allocation and room-sharing arrangements are determined exclusively by the Organisation and are not subject to individual preferences or requests.
4. PROGRAMME MODIFICATIONS
4.1. The Organisation reserves the right to modify the programme schedule, content, speakers, activities, or any other aspect of the event at any time without prior notice.
4.2. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, force majeure, or situations beyond the Organisation's control, the programme may be cancelled, or converted to an alternative format (including online delivery).
5. PAYMENT AND REFUNDS
5.1. The tuition fee of €100 is due upon confirmation of participation and must be paid within the deadline specified.
5.2. Tuition fees are non-refundable except in cases where the programme is cancelled by the Organisation. In such cases, refunds will be limited to the tuition fee paid.
5.3. The Organisation shall not be liable for any travel, accommodation, or other expenses incurred by participants in the event of programme cancellation or modification.
6. CODE OF CONDUCT
6.1. Participants are expected to maintain professional and respectful conduct throughout the programme. The Organisation reserves the right to exclude any participant whose behaviour is deemed inappropriate, disruptive, or in violation of the Una Europa Code of Conduct for Events, without refund of fees.
7. IMAGE AND DATA RIGHTS
7.1. By participating in the programme, participants grant the Organisation permission to capture and use photographs, videos, and audio recordings of their participation for promotional, educational, and institutional purposes.
8. DATA PROTECTION NOTICE
8.1 Personal data will be processed in accordance with applicable data protection regulations (GDPR). Participants consent to the processing of their data for purposes related to the organisation and administration of the programme.
8.2. Please note that participation in this activity involves two consecutive personal data processing stages:
- In the first stage, through this questionnaire, your personal data will be collected, stored and processed by the Una Europa Alliance Office at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) in accordance with the applicable data protection regulations and the privacy policy indicated here. - In the second stage, the personal data of participants who are admitted will be transferred to the organisation of the Complutense University Summer Courses, under which this activity is organised, in order to proceed with the fee payment and formal registration process. 9. LIABILITY
9.1. The Organisation, its partners, sponsors, and staff shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, injury, or expense arising from participation in the programme, except in cases of gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
9.2. Participants are strongly advised to arrange their own travel and health insurance for the duration of the programme.
10. GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION
10.1. These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Spain.
10.2. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Madrid, Spain.
10.3. These specific terms and conditions are supplementary to the General Regulations of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid Summer Courses (Cursos de Verano), available at: https://cursosdeverano.ucm.es/normativa-general
10.4. In all matters not expressly covered by these specific terms and conditions, the General Regulations shall apply by default. In the event of any conflict between these specific terms and the General Regulations, these specific terms shall prevail for matters relating to this programme.
